WorkBoard
From LinksWiki
This board is for the read-only use of all ECE work studies, and can be updated by Matt Adams and Chris Matthews. It contains a list of things Dr. Link would like to see done, in order of importance.
- Matt: You've got a second build-request waiting, of course - the 6"x7"x(1/2"-1") transparent block, and non-transparent block, held together by bolts/screws that are like 0.5" from the corners.
- There's the circuit I'm having Chris build as well, for timing EPADS
- The EPADS timer is ready for mass production... Or use in the competition, whichever comes first.
- Since the discrete-gate Jeopardy thing is pretty much built, it's time to build a case, buttons, etc for it. The steps involved are as such:
- Get a good idea of what we want to build
- Get a detailed spec, involving parts, raw materials, etc.
- Find a vendor to sell us those things
- Make a nice list of part #'s, vendor, etc, so that Dr. Link can quickly order the stuff
- Get the stuff assembled
- The general goal is to have three nice buzzers. Since they're for team use, a base platform you hit, rather than a hand-held unit, seems intelligent. We'll want a nice wire-pair coming to and from it, so something like 1/8" headphone jacks might work well, or perhaps some other two-wire interface? The lights are still up in the air, and might be either on the button-units (meaning more wires to them!) or on the base unit itself. The reset button will most likely be on the unit itself. Also, we'll want to account for about 6 C-D batteries as well, in the main unit. This is a non-trivial task, you can see, as it involves battery placement and holding (don't want them bouncing around inside, trashing the breadboard!), multiple nice happy connectors, rather than just junky soldered wire. We want to be able to plug and unplug the button-units nicely, and replace frayed cords, etc. Get a good vision, sketch up a preliminary, and bring it to me for comments.
